MEETING MINUTES -
July 20, 2009 – Conrad Library – 6:00 P.M.
Attendees: John “Ozzie” Cheban, Kris Fletcher, Jim Hudson,
Geri (Renai) Money, Buck Simpers, Faith (Carter) Simpers,
Tom Skelly, Paul Stratton, Susan (Grimes) Strawbridge,
The meeting was called to order at 6:15 p.m. by Buck Simpers.
A motion was made by Kris Fletcher and seconded by Jim Hudson to accept the June 15 meeting minutes. Approved.
Treasurer’s Report - In Brenda Saulsbury’s absence, Faith Simpers reported with deposits of $15 for one license plate, $156 for two bricks and a dividend posting of $6.31, the current balance is $2,757.68
Unfinished Business
Strategic Planning - Buck, Susan, Faith and Kris presented results of the two Strategic Planning meetings:
- Buck reviewed the process and Association structure
- Susan reviewed results from planning
o Review of last year – highs and lows
o What questions we met to answer
o Mission and Vision statements
o Main Issues that face Association
o SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) exercise – done to help understand how we relate to external environment and see if we’re aligned with it
o Stakeholders
o The future
- Faith reviewed basic recommended committees and guidelines needed to function successfully
- Susan presented goals and objectives
- Kris gave an overview and brief description of Constitution/Bylaws. Copies were distributed to attendees to take home, review and bring any questions and/or concerns to the next meeting for discussion
- Buck presented next steps
o Get feedback
o Amend/approve Constitution/Bylaws
o Gather/appoint Committee Chairs
o Plug into Conrad School of Sciences calendar
o Develop Alumni calendar for the year
- The plan will be revisited at the August 17 meeting for further discussion and approval with the hope we will be ready to roll out in September.
Buck Simpers presented copies of letters he sent to Dr. Robert J. Andrzejewski,
Dr. Merv Daugherty and Joan Enslen.
Alumni Website - Faith Simpers reported in Harry Rogerson’s absence
- Jim Hudson’s request for volunteers to help with revamping the concession stand on the football field has been added to the Alumni website
- As of July 19, 2009, we have 381 Registered alumni
- Anyone who has event photos please send to Harry for posting on the website – 300dpi is best for scanning and can be e-mailed to harry@conradalumni.com
New Business
Conrad School of Sciences PTO Athletic Boosters Meeting
- Jim Hudson reported the concession stand on the football field will be revamped. A lot of the materials needed will most likely be donated. Jim and his son have offered to assist in much of the labor but will need help. Jim would like to have six volunteers. A notice has been put on the Alumni website requesting volunteers for August 1.
- Jim will continue to attend Athletic Boosters and PTO meetings and report back until someone else volunteers to attend these committee meetings.
Ozzie Cheban made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Geri Money seconded. Approved.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
