MEETING MINUTES - OCTOBER 19, 2009 – CONRAD LIBRARY

Attendees: Mary Castelli, John “Ozzie Cheban, Jim Hudson,

Geri (Renai) Money, Kim Greer (PTO)

The meeting was called to order at 6:05 p.m. by Buck Simpers.

A correction was made to the Treasurer’s report in the August 17 meeting minutes. The Current Balance should be $3,203.73. The Minutes were approved as corrected.

Treasurer’s Report – Brenda Saulsbury reported
Receipts totaling $1,067.07 and Expenses of $455.00. Current Balance as of October 19 is $3,815.80.

Committee Reports

Fundraising – Mary Ellen Vitsorek reported

• The committee met on September 25 and developed an extensive list of fundraising possibilities. Samples of the ideas were presented. It was suggested that the committee prioritize and present two or three specific items to focus on at the next meeting.
  
• Phase I bricks have been ordered but will not be delivered in time for installation prior to Homecoming events as hoped.
  
• Mary Ellen made a recommendation that each Alumni Committee member should try to sell at least five bricks for Phase II.

Membership – Paul Stratton reported

• The committee held its first meeting October 14. Membership continues to grow.
  
• Ozzie Cheban suggested maintaining a computer database of members; Tom Skelly and Paul already have a beginning.
  
• The committee will collaborate with CHS individual reunion committees. Intent is for one of Membership Committee members to attend every reunion.
  
• Goal is to focus on class contacts and report back on which classes do not have a contact.

Events – Susan Strawbridge reported

• Jim Hudson has been appointed to the New Castle County Board of Adjustment and will be unable to attend PTO meetings. Mary Castelli and Susan will attend going forward.
  
• Committee will schedule a meeting and come up with a list of projects to focus on.
  

Liaison/Mentor

• Geri Money reported she has been attending cheerleader practice twice a week getting ready for Homecoming game.
  
• Kris Fletcher is contacting Delaware Mentoring Council for collaboration.

Communications – Harry Rogerson reported

• To date, 448 registered via website.
  
• Discussion around official letterhead and stationery. It was recommended that the committee review options and come back next month with chosen letterhead.

Museum/Historical – Tim Laushey reported

Tim and Principal Pruitt collaborated and the area above Library will be designated for Museum. Discussion around securing area; access could be an issue.

Unfinished Business

Kim Greer reported:

Beef and Beer
100 tickets sold to date; there will be a few tickets sold at the door. Many silent auction items have been obtained for the event.

Homecoming –

• There was an announcement in last week’s Crossroads of The News Journal.
• Anyone at the meeting who wants/needs people on their committees, let Susan Strawbridge know so she can solicit at Homecoming. Send her an email.
  
• It was suggested that next year the Alumni Association might want to take on a piece of the event -- possibly publicity?

PTO Meetings are every second Thursday of the month; anyone is welcome to attend.
Sports Boosters meetings are held the fourth Thursday of every month but this week’s is changed to the 29th.

No New Business

Motion made by Harry Rogerson to adjourn meeting and seconded by Tom Skelly. Approved.

Meeting adjourned at 7:30pm.
